Exploring the language of emotions through colour, lines, and form, artist Fareena Samhee Nethee presents her artistic vision in her debut solo exhibition, “Silent Expressions.” The exhibition opened on Saturday, August 1, at Batighar Art Space, located in the Asiatic Centre in Banani, Dhaka, and will continue until August 10.

The exhibition has been organized by Mongol Deep Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting social inclusion and human values through art and culture.

The opening ceremony was attended by Rubaba Dowla, Country Managing Director of Oracle Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan, as the chief guest. Renowned actor and painter Afzal Hossain and Md. Moniruzzaman, Executive Director of Gallery Chitrak, joined the event as special guests.

Supported by Vertex Chambers and SAJIDA Foundation, the exhibition showcases a curated selection of Fareena’s original acrylic paintings. Each work reflects the artist’s personal experiences, emotions, and a distinctive visual language that transcends spoken words.

The title “Silent Expressions” embodies Fareena’s artistic philosophy—that colours, shapes, and compositions can communicate emotions where words fall short. According to the organizers, her paintings invite viewers into a silent yet profound dialogue, allowing them to interpret each work through their own emotional perspective.

A hearing-impaired artist, Fareena Samhee Nethee has developed her artistic practice through years of workshops, training, and creative exploration. Her works have already earned recognition in several group exhibitions at home and abroad, including the International Group Art Exhibition organized by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in Kolkata in 2017 and the Special Art Exhibition commemorating the 101st birth anniversary of Shilpaguru Safiuddin Ahmed in 2023.

The exhibition will remain open to visitors daily from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm until August 10. More than a display of paintings, Silent Expressions offers an opportunity to experience the quiet yet powerful language of visual art through the eyes of an emerging artist.
