Nature is more than the landscape that surrounds us. Within it lie our emotions, memories, love, longing and countless quiet conversations. The vastness of the sky, the steadiness of the earth and the flowing nature of water—these three elements become a visual language through which seven Bangladeshi women artists express feelings that often remain unspoken.
The group exhibition “Sky, Earth, Water” turns nature into a vocabulary of personal experience and emotion. Although the seven artists differ in age, experience, artistic language and use of colour, their works share a common sensibility: a deep connection between human life and nature, and an attempt to give form to the words and feelings that remain unsaid.

The exhibition opened last Friday, October 2, at the Lalmatia branch of Bhumi Gallery in Dhaka. The participating artists are Jochhna Mahbub, Hosne Banu Chhotona, Jesmorina Haque, Monidipa Dasgupta, Mukti Bhowmik, Fahmida Enam Kakoli and Nargis Akter Punam.
In the conceptual framework of the exhibition, sky, earth and water are more than three elements of nature; they also become metaphors for human life and emotion. The openness of the sky, the resilience of the earth and the fluidity of water find new forms through the artists’ individual approaches to colour, composition and visual expression.

The familiar elements of nature—leaves gently moving in the breeze, flowing water, drifting clouds, changing light and shadow—are transformed in their works. At times, they become reflections of inner emotions; at others, metaphors for the quiet experiences of everyday life.
Nature does not carry a single meaning across the works of the seven artists. Instead, it takes on different dimensions through their individual experiences and artistic perspectives. The colours and thoughts that often remain hidden behind the responsibilities and experiences of everyday life are brought into visibility on their canvases.
In this sense, “Sky, Earth, Water” is more than a group exhibition centred on nature. It is a dialogue among seven distinct artistic voices, each responding to the same natural world in a different way. The works reveal how one landscape, one element or one moment in nature can evoke entirely different meanings and emotions in different artists.
The opening ceremony was attended by renowned Bangladeshi artist Kanak Champa Chakma as the chief guest. Art critic Moinuddin Khaled and Gitank Debdweep Dutta, trustee of the Liberation War Museum and an art enthusiast, attended as special guests.

Also present were Saifur Rahman Lenin, founder and executive head of Bhumi Gallery, the participating artists, art critics, art enthusiasts and members of the cultural community.
The exhibition “Sky, Earth, Water” will remain open to visitors until October 9, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM daily.
Venue: Bhumi Gallery, Lalmatia, House 6/8, Block-D, Dhaka.
Beyond inviting viewers to look at nature anew, the exhibition also creates an opportunity to encounter some of the emotions within ourselves that often remain unspoken. Behind the visible forms of sky, earth and water, therefore, lies an invisible story—the quiet, intimate narrative of human life.
