Organised at Gallery MAFA in Lalmatia, the exhibition brings together works by renowned Bangladeshi artists alongside artworks by current and former students of Jolerdhara Fine Arts. According to the organisers, the exhibition seeks to present Bangladesh’s nature, people and diverse ways of life through a range of artistic expressions.
Among the participating established artists are Samrajit Roy Chowdhury, Monirul Islam, Alokesh Ghosh, Hamiduzzaman Khan, Biren Som, Mohammad Iqbal, Gautam Chakraborty, Azharul Haque Sheikh, Kawsar Hasan Tagore, Karo Titash, Parvez, Shahanur Mamun and Kamal Uddin, among others. The 81 artworks in ‘Chitromela 2026’ employ a variety of media, including watercolour, acrylic, pencil sketch, pen sketch, oil painting and pastel. A major focus of the exhibition is Bangladesh’s landscape and people. Speaking about the exhibition, Jolerdhara Fine Arts director and artist Sohag Parvez said the initiative marks a continuation of the organisation’s 16-year journey of art practice and educational activities. By presenting the works of established artists alongside those of a new generation in the same exhibition, the organisers aim to highlight the continuity of artistic practice and the connections between different generations of artists.
